The consultancy runs a specialised programme for people who have identified themselves as needing help in managing or leaving behind addictive compulsive patterns of sexual behaviour. Although this may be done through recovery facilitative psychotherapy, in our view the most effective treatment of choice involves a combination of individual psychotherapy and participation in a specially designed group treatment programme. We also encourage our patients to attend Sex Addicts Anonymous or Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous to further encourage recovery from sexual addiction and compulsivity.

The programme includes teaching on the nature and function of addictive compulsive patterns of behaviour, emotional intelligence, assertiveness training, cycles of addiction, and a variety of educational and experiential exercises to promote behavioural changes of choice. Because sexual addiction seems to have its roots in disturbances of attachment and in impaired relatedness the process of the group itself is as important as the educational content of the work.

The group programme requires at least seven people to run and each group is limited to ten people. There are one or two facilitators per group. A deposit is required to secure a place. This is refundable on the completion of the programme in its entirety.

This is the first programme of its type in the United Kingdom

This consultancy is, in special circumstances and depending on the nature of the problem, prepared to work with sexual offenders.
